Today Emily had her 9-month doctor appointment. Only two shots, and she only cried for the second one, for about 30 seconds. She even smiled at the nurse through her tears! Not to jinx myself, but this shots thing gets easier as she gets older...
And she is growing regularly, though her weight is lower than I thought it would be- 20 lbs. Her weight and head size is in the 70th percentile, and her height is in the 90th percentile at 29 inches!
She got her third haircut last week- bangs only, but now we can see her eyes again! After I gave her a bath this morning I tried brushing her hair with her on my lap, but she kept trying to see what I was doing. So brushed my hair to show her- and then she grabbed the brush and started brushing my hair! It was so funny and adorable.
She can pull herself up to standing and can sidestep a little. She likes to come up behind me while I'm washing dishes, grip my jeans one hand on each leg, and pull herself up, stick her head through my legs and peek up at me. Needless to say that's hard to resist.
She also likes to jump in her crib. That is really funny to watch, except for the one time she let go and faceplanted into the rails...
She has really found her voice and likes trying out new noises that are not exactly lady-like. Her new skill is a cross between blowing raspberries and extreme ferberts. It's hard to explain.
And she's fearless when it comes to heights- I have to keep a grip on one of her feet when she's on our bed, because she will go full-steam over the edge! I remember falling off of my parents bed as a kid. I was probably older, though.
Her new favorite toy is a large stainless steel bowl and wooden spoon. Can you say future drummer? She goes at it like Animal from the Muppets! Pictures and hopefully a video will be uploaded soon.
