happiest place!

And here it is . . . Emily's first trip to Disneyland!!! We had a ton of fun hanging out with Jason's sister Alycia and her extended family on Greg's side.
(I took A LOT of pictures- these are my favorites)On our way to the big plunge on Splash Mountain- (Jason) Heidi Greg Alycia Gabe Amy Jason and Heidi splashed Emily tries pulling out the sword in the stone
One of the ways we kept Emily entertained while waiting in line was shoulder rides. Unfortunately, she had a little too much fun making Daddy prematurely bald.

We got a pink elephant on the Dumbo ride!
And we all fit!
The cousins: Ellie, Sam, Emily, Sierra, Rachel, Gabe, Jared
Emily liked the teacups- but don't worry, we saved the spinning for later

Sierra and Heidi take on the Matterhorn
Emily meets her Fairy Godmother!
On Pirates of the Caribbean, Emily was climbing in our laps and holding on for dear life!
But she's a true pirate at heart. Maybe.
Yet again, waiting in line Coming off Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, I caught this cute picture of Sierra, Rachel and Gabe holding hands.
Walking back to the hotel for dinner, Jason and I had stroller races (nice workout!) but because he won (by half a second) his prize was pushing both strollers :)
Later we saw some awesome fireworks behind the Matterhorn and the peak of Space Mountain
And Sleeping Beauty's castle practically exploded with fireworks during the finale!
Jason's favorite show is Fantasmic- that's Peter Pan on the plank of the pirate ship.
Heidi and Jason getting ready for . . .
The TEACUPS!!!

We got it spinning pretty fast!Jason and Gabe
Sierra Rachel Heidi and 1/3 of Gabe
Next day- California Adventure! I insisted we get a family picture in front of the R.
Emily had to taste-test all the chains while we waited in line to see the Aladdin show (which was pretty darn cool!)
Isn't Sam adorable? Don't be fooled by his innocent smile- he is pretty feisty! He noticed some college-age guys who had the same pirate swords as him, so he marched up and challenged one to a swordfight! They were pretty surprised, but one gamely took him on. Then Sam suddenly stoppped, sheathed his sword, and marched back to us as the guys applauded. Jason and I were laughing hysterically! Emily loved the Playhouse Disney show- she danced and bounced along with the puppets
Rachel Heidi Jason and Jared on the Wild River ride. Poor Rachel got positively soaked!
Emily loved the Bug's Life area where everything was huge! It is pretty creative how it's designed.Alycia (Sam) Greg Amy and Rachel in a flying take-out box!
My favorite rides- California Screamin' and the sliding Ferris Wheel!
Sam comforts Alycia while she has a panic attack on the Ferris Wheel as our bucket slides around on the rail . . .
Jason tried to laugh off his fear of heights. Emily was just wondering why everyone was freaking out.
She loved being outdoors all day long for two days in a row!
California Screamin' was pretty fast and scary- sounds like fun!

My other favorite rides at California Adventure are the Tower of Terror (I was expecting one drop, but it's oh-so-much-more!) and Soaring Over California, which was simply amazing!

I'm so jealous! How do you do all these fun things with kids??? I look forward to the day when naptime doesn't get in the way.... Our fun adventures are more like going to a local park or Barnes and Noble or a playdate at someone's house -- either before naptime or after. When my younger ones miss their naps, they are awful! Your adventures look so fun -- camping, Disneyland, etc. Someday, I hope....

OK two of my favorite things in the universe, and you have them as back-to-back posts: the beach, and Disneyland! Yeah, I am such a geeky kid at heart when it comes to that magical land.

Heidi, you got some GREAT pictures of your day there! I still haven't been to California Adventure, but everyone tells me it's pretty cool with lots of interactive things for kids to do. *sigh* Someday.

As for the beach, I wish! Just when we think it's safe to go outside in sandals and light sweaters we get a snowstorm (we woke up this morning to 2-3 inches). Spring is such a tease in Utah!

I'm so glad you and Emily were able to stop by and visit, even if it was just for an hour. I think Peter is in love! I have never seen him get that excited about a little girl before. She is adorable, and I just think you're doing a great job as a mommy. We hope you come back and visit soon!

You are so dang photogenic. You put some great pics up. Sometime we're going to have to get the boys there. How's Amy doing? Did Emily do well in the hotel?
