What a night! We had free access to Street Scene (an annual music event where several stages are set up on the streets of downtown with a wide variety of bands performing throughout the afternoon and evening) on Friday night because Jason worked as the gate supervisor Saturday night for another teacher's wife who helps run the venue. Our friends Megan and Dirk joined us to watch the concerts by Cake and Black Eyed Peas.
Cake was on first, and I'm so glad Megan loves their music too so I wasn't the only one singing and dancing!
The lead singer had a petulant-aggressive attitude about some unnoticeable technical difficulties, but the music was great! My favorites were Frank Sinatra, Never There, and Short Skirt, Long Jacket.
We were in the back of the crowd for most of it, but were able to move closer for the last song and the one we were waiting for, The Distance.
Black Eyed Peas performed on the same stage an hour and a half later, so after the crowd left we moved up to the front and waited...
Dirk and Megan were fun to hang out with while we waited...
All of us, still waiting...
The crowds were pressing in as the concert time approached, and Megan was stuck next to this couple who had *just met* (she heard their introductions after their first few minutes of making out). After supergluing their faces together, they ended up leaving halfway through the show. Classy.
Woo-hoo! The time finally came as the Black Eyed Peas began with Let's Get It Started. (We were right in front of the speakers, so the videos I recorded with my camera couldn't handle the bass...)
We were in the back of the crowd for most of it, but were able to move closer for the last song and the one we were waiting for, The Distance.
Shout-out to Jason and Dirk who kept Megan and I from getting crushed by the crowd, and scared off a crazy-mean psycho drunk chica who was just asking to get punched. What a night.
